I've been reading a marvellous collection of short stories in the last few days. Clare Wigfall's 'The Loudest Sound and Nothing'. I read an interview with her here. There was something about the interview that made me think her stories would be special. And they are. Reading them, I want to sip, as if I were drinking a glass of very good wine.
It's not often that I read something and immediately feel so inspired to set the bar higher and to aspire to more in my own work. It's to do with her use of voice, I think. I read her stories and know I could go so much deeper.
